mid summer

July 26, 2006

I am back. Back from the wedding party and back to work and listening to russian music and israeli radio (without understanding much). waiting, as usual, for something. I have a huge tangle of projects and ideas and I spend my days trying to figure out how to turn them into reality.

In the meantime I read cookbooks because who-knows-maybe-one-day-i-will-enjoy-cooking-again, and then I draw illustrations for children for my never ending beach book project, I turn off air conditioners and i also do supposedly serious things like work here in cinecittà and elsewhere.

The good thing is that we are going to Berlin. Nice and open and wide and clean Berlin, which makes me feel so small especially when there are no clouds.

This city I live in is so dirty it’s unbelievable. I am surrounded by trash wherever I look. My neighbor planted flowers around the trees on the street two days ago, and three hours later the flowerbed also contained: an empty bottle of orange juice, an empty can of tapioca essence (whatever that means), half a decomposed watermelon, many cigarettes and a variety of odours.

yesterday, the flowers looked like they were dying, but i think that’s because the neighbor didn’t water them.

this morning, the flowers were dead.
